I’ve always said that September is the REAL New Year’s. We may not count down from 10 to 1 at midnight, but it’s when we set in motion the patterns and practices that will drastically shape the next 12 months of our lives.

That’s why you need to deliberately establish godly priorities and put them into your schedule.

At first you make your schedule, and then your schedule makes you. Your godly decisions shape your thinking and behaviour (and so do your ungodly ones).

It’s important to take this seriously because our society is drunk on distraction; there are so many things that compete for your attention—things like pointless T.V. shows, the latest gadgets, and unedifying relationships—that they take you away from what’s really important… away from going deeper with God, from key relationships, from taking the time to help others.

Proverbs 21:21 continues to ring true after all these years: “Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.”

Starting today, establish godly priorities and put them into your schedule. At first you make your schedule, and then your schedule makes you.
