Right now I’m in the midst of a jam-packed, high-energy Vacation Bible Camp.
Our key verse is Psalm 106:1: “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
The main idea of the Camp is that God is good!
Day 1: When life is unfair… God is good.
Day 2: When life is scary… God is good.
Day 3: When life changes… God is good.
Day 4: When life is sad… God is good.
Day 5: When life is good… God is good.
I’ve had more than one person say that this is stuff adults need to hear as well! Definitely.
The insight that “God is good” is primarily important because it’s true: God, by his very nature, can’t not be good. Maybe that’s obvious.
But this insight is also important because it especially helps us when life is unfair, scary, changing, or sad. Why? Because you and I are not defined or hemmed-in by those situations and feelings (even though we sometimes think we are). Dire circumstances are not death sentences.
If we really and truly trust that God is really and truly good, we will live more confidently because we know that he is with us, that he is for us, that he is guiding us, and that he is steady…
even when it’s hard to see or feel.
In a big ole scary world, it can make a world of a difference.
God. Is. Good.
So breathe. Trust. And walk confidently into your day with a good God.
Dire circumstances are not death sentences.
A good God never stops giving new life to his children.
