In yesterday’s devotional I focused on the ascension of Jesus. It assures us that Christ is in the control room. [If you missed it, click here.] After all, Jesus leaving this world to be at his Father’s right hand is his cosmic coronation as Lord of the universe.
The Apostles’ Creed zeroes in on this when it says that Jesus “ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father…” In Romans 8:34 Paul provides the additional detail that Jesus “is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”
Interceding.
He. Is. Interceding. For. You. And. Me.
What good news! Think of needing a legal advocate in a trial. You don’t necessarily know the ins and outs of the law, are perhaps intimidated, and certainly don’t feel equipped to say all the right things to the Judge at the right time. That’s why your advocate is so important.
Well, that’s what Jesus is doing right now for you and me in the divine throne room of God!
You are the furthest thing from alone. You are the furthest thing from hopeless. And you are the furthest thing from lost.
Your friend and big brother, Jesus, is also your sovereign Lord, Advocate and Intercessor.
Take heart. Be at peace. March on.
Confidence comes not from having it all together, but from being under the powerful care of the One who does.
