I attended a conference where Don Carson was talking about faith.
In the New Testament faith is about its object. In other words, faith is about trusting IN someone—namely God. This turns the focus from us to him!
Let’s consider a few of the implications.
Faith isn’t about knowing everything, but trusting in the one who does.
Faith isn’t about being perfect, but trusting in the one who is.
Faith isn’t about solving every problem, but giving yours over to the one who works wonders.
This reminds us about the hugeness of God and the beyondness of his wisdom. As John Piper once tweeted, “God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, and you may be aware of three of them.”*
Isn’t that beautiful to ponder? And awe-inspiring? And reassuring?
Walk taller. Breath deeper. Trust fully. God is actually God, and in Christ you are actually his.
As Paul writes in Ephesians 3:20: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…”
