Seize kingdom moments

A man was in a nursing home. He wasn’t having a good day. He was feeling low and disheveled.

One of the nurses noticed. So she brought him a comb so that he would feel better.

It did. Yes, he was able to brush his hair. But even more than that, he knew that someone cared.

I call this a kingdom moment.

In Matthew 13:31-32 Jesus told a parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

A small seed is planted. It grows into a tree. The birds make a home in its branches.

A kingdom moment is a moment the kingdom grows—when something of heaven is manifested on earth.

Slowly, perhaps, but surely.

The world is facing troubling times. Even still, the King of grace and truth marches on, and he summons his foot soldiers forward with faith, hope and love.

There are times when a comb is more than a comb. And there are other times when your words or deeds are a sign of the kingdom come.

A kingdom moment is a moment the kingdom grows.

What if your role in this world was more significant than you think?

Seize kingdom moments.
