The Star Wars movies have spawned a series of spin-off TV shows. One of them is called Andor.
In it, rebels (who are actually the good guys) are plotting against the evil Empire who keeps trying to expand its grip. It’s appetite for darkness and control seem insatiable.
In Season 2, there is a moving scene that features Cassian, the show’s main character. He meets a new person who has just joined their rebellion against the darkness. She is young and nervous. There is a lot at stake. Is she doing the right thing? What if she gets caught?
At this point in the show, Cassian is a veteran of the battle. He knows how important it is. He also knows how frightening it must be a new person who has now stepped “into the circle” of the battle.
As tears move slowly down her face, Cassian reassures her by saying: “You’re coming home to yourself.” It was the perfect thing to say. She is now doing what she was made to do. Although it’s difficult, and even scary, she has made a design to align herself with the light, not with the darkness. She isn’t just observing from the sidelines; she doing something about it. That’s the moment when true peace is possible, even though the mayhem roars.
Do you want to be a part of something great? Of something bigger than yourself? Of something that means something, even though it might be scary? It’s called the kingdom of God. And yes, it’s all true. The light, the darkness, heaven, hell, angels, demons, love, hate, truth, deception, coming judgment, the eternal destination of souls, and everything in between. Jesus said: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:14-15).
There are dangers and sacrifices, but also battles and friendships and glories that you won’t experience anywhere else.
It’s who you were made to be, and your soul won’t settle until you enter into the circle, and come home to yourself.
