Being casual toward the sin in your life is being casual toward God’s will for your life.
Here’s what I mean.
In Colossians 3:5 (CSB) Paul says to “put to death what belongs to your earthly nature…” He’s referring to sin. Then in verse 10 he goes on to say, “You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator.”
I’m not saying this to get you down. I’m saying this to motivate you. A major barrier to spiritual growth is our own conscious resistance to God’s Way.
-If you’re accumulating clothes, stuff and technology at a pace you can’t even keep track of, maybe you need to purge and cultivate some contentment and gratitude.
-If you’re looking at things online that draw you into a place of temptation, maybe you need to get an app that shuts down those images before you see them.
-If your temper or impatience is eroding your relationships, maybe you need to drop to your knees and then get into some therapy.
Richard Mouw, a man recently given an honourary doctorate degree by The Presbyterian College in Montreal, said this: “We cannot hope to bring about effective change unless we are willing to be changed.”
Godly transformation begins with you. Being casual toward the sin in your life is being casual toward God’s will for your life.
So, what do you need to do?
