We’ve been talking about the parable of the sower in Luke 8. A farmer sows some seed which Jesus has explained represents the word of God.
The seed doesn’t always land on receptive soil. But it does in verse 15: “the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.”
Today let’s look at that word “persevering.” The CSB translation of the Bible uses the word “enduring.” You get the picture.
A part of what we learn is that, as we hear God’s word and seek to retain it, we need to keep going.
-When you are going through a trial, look to God almighty and keep going.
-When you are enduring hardship, look to God almighty and keep going.
-When you feel down, look to God almighty and keep going.
-When you feel alone, look to God almighty and keep going.
-When you are discouraged, look to God almighty and keep going.
-When you have doubts, look to God almighty and keep going.
-When you are ill, look to God almighty and keep going.
-When you feel like life is a thick fog, look to God almighty and keep going.
Don’t ever give up on God; God never gives up on you. Giving up is exactly what Satan wants.
Looking back on your own life from heaven you will be able to say, ‘Wow, with God’s help, I made the Energizer Bunny look like a rookie.’
Keep going.
