Recently my wife Laura came across a quote by actor Jim Carrey: “I think everyone should get rich and famous and do everything they dreamed of so they can see that it is not the answer.”
Imagine that scenario playing out. Everyone gets rich. Then they get famous. They do whatever they want. They assume that all their dreams will come true. But then they don’t and realize that maybe riches, fame and thrill-seeking experiences are not all they’re cracked up to be.
Let me save us all some time and distraction. They’re not.
Jesus said: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6).
Filled. Satisfied. Content.
Friends, let’s hunger and thirst for the pathways of God. If we do so, we’ll look back on our lives from our deathbeds and say, ‘Well, I may not have been bigger, better, best… but I sure was blessed.”
