Does your actual life reflect your purpose?

Yesterday, I invited you to write down on a piece of paper the purpose of your life.

Some of you will have done that right away. Some of you are taking some more time to think about it.

Let me share a next step for whenever you’re ready.

Take a bit of time to ask yourself how your actual life reflects that purpose.

As you think, maybe you’ll want to go for a walk. Ponder it. Maybe spend some time journaling. Pray about it. Perhaps you’ll want to open your calendar and scroll through the things that fill your days.

If your actual life is consistent with your purpose in Christ, that’s great. If it isn’t, now is the time to start making a change.

One of the biblical virtues is self-control. Proverbs 25:28 says: “Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.” Imagine a city that has been ravaged by a foreign army. Its residents become panicked, impoverished and hopeless. Sounds like a description of someone whose life has been steamrolled because they haven’t taken the time or energy to keep first things first.

All of us can get off track and distracted. If that’s you, there’s no better time than now to start making a change.

You were made on purpose and for a purpose. But you can’t live it if you don’t know it. So know it, and live it.
