In John 8:44 Jesus called the Devil the “father of lies.” He is the enemy of honesty. He lays traps. He distorts. He pulls people in his direction. Since he’s an expert—he’s been working at his craft for eons—we need to be alert to his schemes. Having said let, let me introduce today’s theme.
Distraction is deception’s co-pilot.
We know deception is bad. When someone has “deceived” you, they have led you astray. You’ve been duped. You thought something was true, but it wasn’t.
Distraction is also a problem, but I think we’re more susceptible to it. Perhaps that’s because our attention is pulled in ten different directions at the same time. Some of those things are good, but not all of them.
We’re so plugged in to the news, our social media feeds, and what everyone else is taking about, that it’s easy to let other people and forces dictate where our attention should be directed.
That’s why distraction is deception’s co-pilot. If we’re distracted from the things that matter most, we’re being deceived about what is worthy of our time and attention.
Are distraction and deception flying the plane of your brain in the wrong direction?
This isn’t about sinister government plots or conspiracy theories! This is simply an invitation to think about distraction in a new way. If you’re always distracted from what matters most, isn’t that a win for the Devil, the father of lies?

Excellent point about deception and distraction co-piloting! We have let go too much of the old and approved style of life for centuries and find ourselves living in the middle of confusion, unhealthy toxicity physically and spiritually! And most of us have no clue what’s happening!
