The darker the dark, the brighter the light

“…he [God] knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him” (Daniel 2:22).

The darker the dark, the brighter the light.

Imagine being in a well-lit room in the middle of the day. There are a lot of windows. You hold up a torch. It will definitely bring extra light. After all, it’s a torch.

Then imagine doing the same thing in a room as the sun is going down. Since it’s getting darker outside, the torch will make more of a difference.

Finally, imagine being in that same room in the middle of the night. It’s pitch black. When you light the torch, it changes everything you see and experience in the room.

This is true not only physically, but spiritually.

Daniel was surrounded by spiritual darkness. His nation and youth were laid waste. He was forced to serve an oppressive king who continually threatened murder. He was surrounded by people who served pagan gods, the powers behind which were actually demonic.

And yet, Daniel chose to shine God’s light. Since he was surrounded by so much darkness, the light made a powerful difference. Today, we continue to speak about Daniel’s faith, courage, wisdom and influence.

God continues to be on the lookout for faithful servants to share his light in the dark.

What if the difficult situations you are in—and even the dangerous situations you are in—are invitations to share the light of God? And what if, like Daniel, your light would bless countless people?

God is on the lookout for faithful servants (both then and now) to share his light in the dark. Will you say Yes?

The darker the dark, the brighter the light.
