J.O.M.O.

Have you heard of JOMO?

It stands for the “joy of missing out.”

At first it seems like a strange statement. After all, isn’t “missing out” a bad thing?

Sure. Sometimes.

But missing out can bring you joy when you need a break, rest, and some space from the endless online chatter, high-drama relationships, or barrage of constant comparisons to other people’s lives.

Paul writes, “my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

God meets our needs. All of them. With that in mind, most of what we think is “missing out” isn’t really missing out at all—so long as we have God.

I just took a 2.5 month break from social media and email. That’s right: 2.5 MONTHS. And friends, let me tell you this. It did me more good than bad. I’m obviously not going to give it up forever. But it was pure 100% #JOMO.

Don’t be so worried about missing out that you miss what matters most.
