God’s timely help

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about Hebrews 4:16: “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

In our time of need. You could also translate that phrase “for timely help.” In other words, God’s help is never delayed in traffic. You may not always understand it or even see it at first. But his help is both real and timely.

When a child calls out in the middle of the night after a nightmare, what do you say? “Stuff a sock in it, I’m tired!” No, of course not! You get up and go to help them. Right then and there. You hug them, tell them it’s alright, and that it was only a dream.

Timely help. So it is with our heavenly Father.

In and through Jesus, God is ready to help you. Are YOU ready to ask?

WHAT IS ‘PROGRESSIVE’ CHRISTIANITY? –  My latest podcast is an engaging interview with best-selling author Alisa Childers. Her book caught my attention when it was recommended by Lee Strobel. It’s called “Another Gospel? A lifelong Christian seeks truth in response to Progressive Christianity.” In short, that’s a movement which seeks to redefine or radically reinterpret historic, biblical truths that flow from the heart of the loving God. Sound concerning? It is. Click here to listen, or look for ‘The Pulse Podcast with Matthew Ruttan’ wherever you subscribe to podcasts: iTunes (Apple), Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher or TuneIn.
