Many books and movies have explored the idea of a fountain of youth—a magical flow of water that stops the aging process, and which makes you younger and feeling great.
As far as we know, it doesn’t exist.
But one of the things I’ve come to discover is that a well-rested soul may be the closest thing to the fountain of youth.
One of the things I’ve been personally working on recently is rest. It doesn’t come naturally to me. I have to force myself. When I get some down time my natural instinct is to do something so that I feel “productive.”
Maybe that’s why God commanded rest. He actually put it in the 10 commandments alongside not murdering and stealing. Jesus himself includes rest as one of the benefits of following him: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Taking time to rest isn’t being lazy. It’s being faithful.
A well-rested soul may be the closest thing to the fountain of youth.
