The battle many people are fighting right now is the battle of the mind.
Franticness. Failure. Fear.
Loneliness. Loss. Lethargy.
Distress. Disappointment. Doubt.
So how do you win the battle of the mind?
In 2 Corinthians 10:5 Paul writes: “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
Great advice! “Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
If a thought comes into your head that says, ‘You have every reason to fear!’ Respond by saying, ‘I trust in Christ.’
If a thought comes into your head that says, ‘You’re not going to make it!’ Respond by saying, ‘I trust in Christ.’
If a thought comes into your head that says, ‘You’re such a failure!’ Respond by saying, ‘I trust in Christ.’
Friends, if you’re a follower of Jesus, you’re not even the main warrior in your own battle—He is! And he can—and does—slay the enemy of truth. As we are reminded in that great hymn, A Mighty Fortress is Our God: “One little word shall fell him.”*
Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
