Yesterday I highlighted Act 14:17 where Paul was telling the people of Lystra about God: “He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”
He told them how God was personally involved in their lives and actively providing for their well-being. This was (and is) evidence of his kindness.
But his provision isn’t just physical. Notice also how God “fills your hearts with joy.” He cares and works not only for us to live, but to live joyfully.
Do you know the joy you feel when you sing that praise song that takes you to a whole new level? Thank you, God! Do you know the joy you feel when you laugh with great friends, or when you serve someone in a meaningful way as the hands and feet of Jesus, or when you remember what Christ has done for you on the cross? Thank you, God!
Kindness, kindness, kindness, kindness!
Today, trying thanking God for one of the ways he has given you joy, but which you maybe haven’t thought of as a gift until now.
Joy is what happens when existing for yourself is replaced by living with God.
