Is your current speed dangerous?

Have you ever had a thousand things to do, but couldn’t get them done because things kept happening which prevented you from getting through your to-do list? Perhaps like a flat tire, a surprise visit from someone, losing your keys, or even a cold?

Let me ask you a question: What if God was forcing you to slow down because your current speed is a real danger to yourself and others?

I’m not saying this is always the case. But might it sometimes be the case?

Psalm 127:2 (ESV) says: “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil…”

There are times when we need to get stuff done. But there are also times to rest. Anxious toil is an unhealthy cooperation with a frantic and chronic busyness which is not of God.

God cares for his children. He wants the best for them. I’m being speculative, but wouldn’t it actually be caring for him to slow his kids down because he can see we’re headed for a wreck?

Brothers and sisters, slowing down isn’t a sign of weakness, but of wisdom.

What if God is forcing you to slow down because your current speed is a real danger to yourself and others?
