When we refuse to silence ourselves

A lot of us want to hear from God.

We want a word of direction or some understanding or the living waters of encouragement.

But how many of us are willing to create some quiet space in our lives to listen?

When Jesus is teaching in Matthew 11:15 he says, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” That line unsettles me a bit. If some people have “ears to hear” it must mean that other people have ears but don’t hear!

When it comes to hearing from God, I don’t want that to be me. What about you?

-Do you need serious direction?
-Do you need understanding?
-Do you need the living waters of encouragement?

Create some time in your schedule, read your Bible, pray… and listen.

I sometimes wonder if God’s apparent silence in our lives is because we refuse to silence ourselves.

When we do, not only do we create mental space to more clearly hear his voice, but we create a readiness in our souls to listen.

What if you don’t hear from God, not because his life is filled with too much rush and noise, but because yours is.
